Rejecting My Humanness
I thought awakening meant abandoning the messy human story. What I found instead was freedom in embracing it.
For a while, I thought awakening meant rejecting anything to do with the human story. I actually removed all my shamanic tools and bowls from my desk and cleared the decks. I dismissed any abilities this body-mind has to pursue “truth.” Awakening was the only thing worth pointing to - everything else was just appearance.
My tools …
One of the gifts arising here is a modern psychology healing tool (the Demartini Method) that can trigger spontaneous emotional healing - and I almost parked that too. If it weren’t for the emotional openings, it would have been tossed in with all other concepts, in the same bucket as thoughts and the mind itself. I dismissed the self, I dismissed the shiny seat of the I AM … only to discover another position, and another, and another. All the while, I had non-duality on a pedestal, as if it were more special than the messy, gritty navigation of concepts that actually dissolve trauma and open the heart.
What I’ve come to see is that the healings, the triggers, the shadow work - all of it was part of slowly releasing the story of “me.” The dissolving of trauma perception can be a bridge to awakening. Sure, this work can be done after awakening, but why not take credit on the way there?
I realised that consciousness, life, aliveness - whatever word you prefer - shows up in every form: in the non-dual perception, in the brokenness of human stories, and in the healing. It’s the healer, the healed, and the healing. How bloody wonderful. I’ve also been in business for the last 15 years, and what I know is that it doesn’t matter whether it’s a business trigger, a family trigger, an awakening trigger, or a personal judgment - all of it can dissolve into clarity and freedom. All is life doing life. And I like this perspective.
I also know from my own journey that awakening may happen, but trauma lives long after in the nervous system. And when that’s met, liberation can finally land in everyday life. Healing and trauma resolution doesn’t have to be a “personal fix” - it’s leadership, it’s integration. Pain, trauma and emotional hooks can dissolve.
The Demartini Method is like nothing I’ve ever seen - fast, lasting, transformational. It’s the bridge between psychology and awakening and I love it. I love helping people navigate the messiness of the human condition. We collapse the “me” stories while honouring the human experience.
Rejecting humanness delayed me. Embracing humanness liberated me. Awakening isn’t somewhere else - it’s right here, in the mess, in the healing, in the business of life.
With grace
